TT$64,000 to see Warriors
LOCAL football fans who do not wish to take up the package being offered by Simpaul’s Travel Agency to see the Soca Warriors at World Cup Germany 2006, will now have an alternative. According to information released by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation yesterday, apart from Simpaul’s package deal of $30,000 exclusive of airfare, a travel consortium Primesport are offering 12 nights of accommodation at a four-star hotel at US$10,509 (TT$64,206.70) single occupancy and US$7,299 ($45,983.70) double occupancy. Meanwhile, Australia Sport Tours have also advertised packages for Aussies to see the Socceroos in action in Germany. One package gives accommodation at a three-star hotel and guided sightseeing tours and other tour apparel at a cost of 4,495 euros (TT$34,700.40) per person which does not include airfare nor match tickets. Airfare will be an additional cost of 2,150 euros (TT$16,598). According to TTFF special advisor Jack Austin Warner on Wednesday, the TTFF will receive their allotment of tickets, the total amount requested, for the Soca Warriors three opening round matches shortly. Auditing and consulting firm Ernst & Young (Switzerland) have been appointed independent external auditors to monitor and evaluate the overall ticketing project for FIFA World Cup Germany 2006. This appointment was confirmed on January 9 by the FIFA ticketing sub-committee, which included members of the German local organising committee. "This appointment is second to none and will play a major role in the monitoring and evaluation of the ticketing process to ensure there are no flaws whatsoever," said Warner who is deputy chairman of the FIFA Finance Committee.
