Beetham man killed in accident

A BEETHAM Gardens salvager known only as “Momo” was knocked down and killed along the Beetham Highway on Saturday night. Up to late yesterday, police were trying to properly identify the deceased so an autopsy could be carried out. According to reports, at about 8.30 pm the man who reportedly lived in Hell Yard, Beetham Gardens crossed the highway from south to north near the landfill when he was struck by a pick-up vehicle which was heading west. The driver who became frightened by angry residents who gathered at the scene, drove off and headed to the Besson Street Police Station where he made a report. The traumatised driver was then taken to Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated for minor bruises. Investigations are continuing.
