Lara in 14-man TT squad

WEST Indies batting star Brian Lara has been included in a 14-man squad to represent Trinidad and Tobago in the 2006 Carib Beer Cricket Series fourth round match against Guyana from January 20-23 at Guaracara Park, starting on Friday.

The 36-year old replaces West Indies Under-19 captain Jason Mohammed who will be on duty with the regional team, which left the Caribbean Monday to play five One-Day practice matches ahead of the Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka in February. Mohammed gave an impressive debut performance against defending champions Jamaica last week at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground in UWI St Augustine when Trinidad and Tobago defeated Jamaica by a massive 282 runs.

Lara, who is yet to play a match in the competition, will join the squad for training today at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Development Centre in Balmain, Couva.

The Trinidad and Tobago team was announced on Monday.

Trinidad and Tobago have 18 points from two matches.

The Guyanese team led by West Indies captain Shivnarine Chander-paul is scheduled to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago tonight.

TT SQUAD: Daren Ganga (captain), Lendl Simmons, Tishan Maraj, Dwayne Bravo, Gregory Mahabir, Brian Lara, Denesh Ramdin, Richard Kelly, Rayad Emrit, Dave Mohammed, Sanjiv Gooljar, Amit Jaggernauth, Imran Khan and Sherwin Ganga.
