ARC list 23 Saturdays without racing

The Arima Race Club announced their days of racing for 2006 recently, with racing on eight public holidays including New Year’s Day, last.

The other eight days are Easter Monday, March 28; Indian Arrival Day, May 30; Labour Day, June 20; Emancipation Day, August 1; Independence Day, August 31; Republic Day, September 24 and Boxing Day, December 26.

Of the 37 racing days for the season, February and August will have most with four each, while there are nine months with three racing days each and only this month (January) with just two - January 28 to follow New Year’s Day.

Racing days are: JANUARY 1, 22 (two days); FEBRUARY 4, 12, 19, 26 (Four days); MARCH 12, 19, 28 (three days); APRIL 2, 16, 30 (three days);

MAY 7, 21, 30 (three days); JUNE 11, 20, 25 (three days); JULY 2, 16, 23 (three days); AUGUST 1, 13, 20, 31 (four days); SEPTEMBER 10, 17, 24 (three days); OCTOBER 1, 15, 29 (three days); NOVEMBER 5, 12, 26 (three days); DECEMBER 3, 10, 26 (three days). Total: 37 days.

Public holidays racing: NEW YEARS’ DAY - January 1; EASTER MONDAY, - March 28; INDAIN ARRIVAL DAY- May 30; LABOUR Day- June 20: EMANCIPATION DAY - August 1: INDEPENDENCE DAY- August 31: REPUBLIC DAY- September 24): BOXING DAY- December 27 (eight days).

Non-racing SATURDAYS: JANUARY 8, 14: FEBRUARY 5; MARCH 5, 26; APRIL 2, 9:, 23; MAY 14, 28; JUNE 4, 18; JULY 9, 30; AUGUST 6, 27; SEPTEMBER 3; OCTOBER 8, 22; NOVEMBER 19; DECEMBER 17, 24, 31. (23 days).
