No play again in St Lucia

CASTRIES: The Windward Islands and Leeward Islands Carib Beer Series cricket match was suspended for a third straight day due to heavy rains that have left the field water-logged.

Rain has wreaked havoc on the match, even seeping under the tarp intended to protect the playing area. Groundsmen worked yesterday to get the field in shape, but afternoon umpires ruled by the afternoon that it had not dried enough to allow play.

Today is the final day of the scheduled four-day match.

The Carib Beer Series six-team tournament is currently led by Barbados with 24 points. Trinidad and Tobago have 18 and Jamaica, 12.

Guyana, the Windward Islands and the Leeward Islands are at the bottom fighting to become the fourth team to reach next month’s semi-finals.
