Man on trial for Palmyra killing
Ronald John, 24, is on trial for the murder of Palmyra Village bar proprietor Kenneth Boxie before Justice Mark Mohammed in the San Fernando Second Assize Court. John, aka "Dollars," of Sea Lots, is on trial for the November 27 2002 murder, in which he and other unknown persons are alleged to have murdered Boxie at Starlight Recreation Bar, Tarouba Link Road, Palmyra. Boxie, who was the owner and bartender at the businessplace, was gunned down during a robbery at the premises. The State’s case is being presented by State attorney Angelica Teelucksingh. John is being represented by attorney Roger Ramgoolam, instructed by Kevin Ratiram. One of the State’s main witnesses is Laventille PH taxi driver Jeffrey Lewis, who was arrested for Boxie’s murder on December 3, 2002. However, he was later granted immunity from prosecution by the Director of Public Prosecutions and became a State witness. Hearing continues today.
