Police, Fire win in All Sectors n-ball
POLICE eked out a 39-33 victory over TSTT, and Fire burned Bermudez Y 32-27 as action in the Alternative Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League continued. The Bermudez women led 8-7 at the end of the first period, but at the half-time interval Fire engulfed their rivals 16-12 and maintained their lead 29-16 at the third quarter. Bermudez Y launched a spirited final quarter rally but could get no closer than five goals in the end. Adasha Norton scored 18 goals from 24 attempts, T’Shura Smart had 12 of 17 and Tricia Roberts got two of eight for the winners, while Helen Curden scored 14, Petal Wilkins sank ten, Michelle Slater registered two and Sherry-Ann Bridgeman just one for Bermudez. In the other match on Thursday afternon, Police led 12-7 at the end of the opening stanza and 21-20 at the half. But the telecommunications women knotted up the scoreline at the three-quarter stage 28-28, and a raging battle ensued in the final period, but the policewomen managed to hold on. Giselle Norton netted 20 of 41 attempts, Claudia Joseph scored seven of 11 and Cathy Ann Cain had two of four for the policewomen, while Leslie Ann Legerton recorded 22 goals, Sarah Hutchinson got seven and Ayanna Moore sank four for the beaten team.
