President’s assistant in Calypso Queen Finals
Media Relations Assistant at President’s House, Maria Bhola, has made it to the finals of NWAC’s National Calypso Queen Competition Finals. Bhola, who has been competing since she was eight years old, took a break three years ago for various reasons, including going back to school. However, she told Newsday: "Bhola’s Back!" She will be singing a social commentary song entitled, "Say Something," which she has now renamed "Silent Treatment." Former Calypso Queen Heather Mac Intosh has also made it to the finals with her song "Ma Theresa Deposit," while popular soca songbird Lima Calbio will be appealing to the bandits to allow her to "Party In Peace," as her song is titled. Seasoned competitors Eunice Peters, Joanne Foster, Lesley Ann Ellis, Marva Mc Kenzie, Monique Hector, Shanaqua, Singing Sonia and Twiggy are also among the other finalists who will be going up against defending National Calypso Queen, Abbi Blackman. The finals will be held on Monday February 6 at the St James Amphitheatre from 7 pm.
