Boy shot dead

A 15-YEAR-OLD Gonzales boy was shot dead by gun men, in his family’s home yesterday afternoon. According to reports, around 4 pm, Nakido ‘Kido’ Jerome, of Gonzales Hill, was at home liming with cousins, when two gunmen casually walked into the house. Several family members who were in front of the house, had to scamper for safety when the men approached. One of the men came through the back door, and the other the front, cornering Jerome who ran into an upstairs bedroom, when he was shot several times. He died on the spot.

Jerome was shot two days ago in the leg, during a drive-by shooting at Quarry Street, in Laventille. It was in the same bedroom, that his cousin, Jamaal Jerome was shot dead two years ago. There was also another incident at the house when several men tried to kill Nakido’s stepfather. Jerome was described by his cousin Mara Fallon, as a playful young boy, who attended the St Ann’s Life Centre after sitting his SEA exams.

“Why is it they are targeting young children and women?” she cried, “like we are praying to the wrong God because like he only answering their prayers.” Fallon said it was only a few hours before Jerome was playing with his baby cousin and enjoying himself. “He is an innocent little boy, who never did anybody anything,” she stated. Jerome had moved from Quarry Street only two days. However, one of his relatives, Chika Farai, was also shot dead on Thursday night. Investigators believe that Jerome was a target because he was part of the family.
