Warriors merchandise on sale

On Monday a number of authorised items including replica T-shirts, caps, mugs and other items are scheduled to go on sale.

This was announced yesterday when the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) launched the available merchandise at the MovieTowne’s lobby, Mucurapo Foreshore.

The briefing was also used to name the authorised Soca Warriors Distribution Centres across Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago football team manager Bruce Aanensen said Standard Distributors Limited and York Garments Limited will be the official distribution outlets for the Soca Warriors merchandise items. Prestige Holdings, the parent company of KFC Restaurants, is also one of the major sponsors of the Germany bound Soca Warriors. A suggested price of $88 will be charged for the T-shirts and caps while varying prices will be charged for the other items such as handbags, cellphone cases, bottle openers, metal key chains and coolers among others.

According to Aanensen, the official jerseys will bear the team’s logo with the Football Federation (TTFF) badge, "Soca Warriors" inscription and "I’m a Soca Warrior."

However he said that the official Adidas Soca Warriors shirts that the team will wear are expected in Trinidad by mid-February. He urged football fans to be cautious when purchasing these items as there are many counterfeit items.

The sponsors and distributors have agreed to donate 30 percent of the sale of the items towards the players and Aanensen said that the purchase of merchandise and other products from bogus retailers will reduce the amount of proceeds due to the players.

However Aanensen said the football federation will also consider applications from independent retailers wishing to sell the Soca Warriors items. Liesl Baksh Mohammed the Supply Chain Manager of Standard Distributors Limited said her company will set up a display with the items and may also invite some of the players to sign autographs. The items will go on sale on Monday at the various outlets of Standards Distributors, York Garments and KFC.
