193 held in Task Force raids
Exercises and raids carried out by officers of various Task Force Agencies of the police service for the month of January, resulted in the arrest of 193 persons. Officers also recovered six firearms. They include four pistols, one shotgun and one revolver. Officers also seized 59 rounds of ammunition, three kilos of cocaine and 28.983 kilos of compressed marijuana. A release from the office of Police Commissioner Trevor Paul revealed that the exercises will continue as part of the anti crime initiative. Recently, the heads of all Task Force agencies were called to a meeting by ACP Crime Gilbert Reyes and informed that all Task Force officers will now be required to work alongside officers of the Inter Agency Task Force when their services are required. If exercises are carried out at any part of the country and the task force officers are required to assist then they will be called out. Plans are also afoot to bring the Task Force Agencies under the control of one senior officer.
