Man who murdered Penal mom took mortrin overdose
THE male relative who attempted suicide after he murdered Penal mother Charmaine Baptiste on Tuesday, had swallowed several mortrin tablets in a bid to take his own life. He remained warded under police guard at the San Fernando General Hospital yesterday. Police investigators have since sought advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions on the matter. A police report stated that doctors confirmed yesterday that the relative took an overdose of tablets. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. Baptiste, 38, was stabbed to death by the relative when she attempted to flee the house around 3 am. An autopsy performed on the body by Dr Hughvon Des Vignes at the Forensic Science Centre, revealed that the woman died from multiple stab wounds. Insp Fitzgerald George of the South Homicide Bureau is continuing investigations.
