Panday — a PNM agent

THE EDITOR: As the PNM celebrate the 50th anniversary of their launching comes the findings of the latest poll on the political climate in Trinidad and Tobago.

After nearly four years in office, and after expending over $100 billion of tax revenue, the population gives a resounding thumbs down on their performance. After all the boast of Vision 2020, the CSME, NAFTA, tax reductions and endless housing, 79 percent of the people of this country rate the performance of the government as being fair to poor. This is indeed an indictment on the Patrick Manning administration and it is quite clear that the massive PR campaign has not brought about the desired results.

However, this is the good news. The bad news is that the hapless UNC is not able to take advantage of this situation solely because of one man, Basdeo Panday.

The poll further revealed that Winston Dookeran is a more competent candidate to be Prime Minister by 53 percent to 16 percent over Panday, but the former leader will just not read the writing on the wall.

Clearly, one must come to the inescapable conclusion that Basdeo Panday is now an agent of the PNM.
