Ride on Mowers to control grass
THE Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation have purchased four Ride On Mowers to cut grass on 20 first class cricket grounds in their jurisdiction. The mowers were tested on the compound of the corporation on Tuesday. Jeewan Mungroo, chairman of the corporation said that the effort started two years ago and only now was it possible to complete the transaction much to the delight of cricketers in Central Trinidad. Teams playing in Division One of the National Cricket League are Alescon Comet, W Connection Wanderers, CLICO Preysal, Joe Public Munroe Road Sports; and in Division Two is Couva Sports. Apart from staging Central Zone matches the grounds must be kept in tip top shape in the interest of smooth running of other competitions. Chief Executive Officer of the corporation, Pamela Doon said that they were keen on seeing that matches are played on well kept grounds. "As such we have a responsibility to see that players are exposed to conditions that could only be described as first class," Doon said.
