Lara Stadium to finish on time
THE BRIAN Lara Stadium in Tarouba is expected to be completed later this year, according to Anand Daniel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Local Organising Committee. The controversial stadium is being constructed for the 2007 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup here in the Caribbean. The venue is due to be ready for action by November, in keeping with the deadline set by the ICC inspectors. Daniel noted that, later this month, inspectors would be taking a look at the stadium as well as the refurbished Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain. The Local Organising Committee CEO admitted that he is hopeful that, with the current sunny weather conditions, work will be accelerated at both venues. And, regarding the Tarouba facility, Daniel pointed out that pitch and outfield work would begin at the end of this month.
