Parkites, Merry Boys out to win


QUEEN’S PARK and Ceramic Merry Boys will be aiming for their fourth successive win in the Carib Sunday League competition when action in the round-robin phase concludes this weekend.


Today and tomorrow, matches in Round One and Two, which were cancelled due to heavy rainfall during the weekend of January 14 and 15, will be contested.


Regarding tomorrow’s fixtures, in Group "B," Queen’s Park can seal a quarter-final spot with victory against Invaders at the St Mary’s Ground, St Clair. The Parkites would be without captain Mervyn Dillon, who will be on national duties against Barbados.


Also in Group "B," second-placed W Connection Wanderers will head south to Syne Village to meet Powergen while Endeavour hosts Defence Force.


Ceramic Merryboys can also cement a place in the last eight with a fourth straight win, versus FCB Clarke Road United, at the Diego Martin Recreation Ground.


Merryboys are the leaders in Group "A," while second-placed Mayo Valley Boys oppose third-placed Joe Public Munroe Road at Cunupia and Couva Sports squares off against Las Lomas Sports Club at the Couva Junior Secondary Ground.


Two matchess will be staged in Group "C," with CLICO Preysal battling Tobago United at the Inshan Ali Park, Preysal while Alescon Comets meet the winless Tile It Central Sports at Pierre Road.


The top three finishers in Group "A" and "B," as well as the runners-up in Group "C," will advance to the quarterfinals on February 12.
