Good Samaritan killed on highway


A GOOD SAMARITAN was knocked down Friday night as he attempted to cross the Solomon Hochoy Highway after assisting a man whose truck broke down near Tarouba.


Harrydan Bachan, 43, a sales clerk, of Smart Street, Tarouba, died on the spot.


The accident occurred at about 7.15 pm in the vicinity of the NHA settlement. Bachan, who lived nearby, crossed the northbound lane of the highway and went to the truck driver’s assistance.


Bachan helped the driver and was returning to his home when he was struck by a car. He died on the spot. The driver did not stop but drove to the Mon Repos Police Station where he reported the accident.
