Kidnap suspects held in police raid
A MAN suspected of being the henchman for a well-known kidnapping mastermind was arrested along with 17 other persons in an early morning exercise in the Morvant, Barataria and San Juan areas. He was one of two kidnap suspects arrested during the exercise. Seven persons were arrested for possession of narcotics, one for murder and the rest for firearm and other charges. The arrested persons’ ages ranged between 16 and 37 years and included a 19-year-old woman. The exercise, which took place between Friday and yesterday at 1 am respectively, was spearheaded by Insp Dave Hilaire and included head of the North-Eastern Division Task Force Cpl Darryl LaPierre, Wayne Primdass, Ag Cpl Liston Taylor and PCs Merric Mundo, Keston Accres, Dale Mackoonsingh and Ricardo Thomas. The suspects are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate tomorrow.
