Gangster gunned down in Glencoe

A 26-year-old man who was hiding out in Glencoe from rival gang members was shot dead on Sunday night.

Saddick Abdullah Moha-mmed, 26, who had residences at Maloney, Morvant and Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain, was a suspect in a number of murders and had a criminal record. He also served time in prison. He was the 44th person murdered for the year.

Reports revealed that Mohammed was standing at the back of a house at Rodney Street, La Horquette Road, Glencoe, at 8.45 pm on Sunday, when he was confronted by a man who shot him five times.

Rodney Street residents discovered the body of Mohammed, a father of one, lying in a pool of blood. The body was viewed by a district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre.

Investigators yesterday said that Mohammed was hiding from people who had threatened his life. His body was found in an area which is considered to be a drug den.

Officers of the Carenage Police Station are investigating.
