Prof Vijay: I don’t want to discuss if it is true
ProF Vijay Naraynsingh yesterday refused to give his views on a tape with a recorded conversation which was kept in the safety deposit box of the late Chandra Naraynsingh. The woman in the conversation was calling from Canada, and much of the talk centred on the state of the marriage. Contacted for comment on the dialogue which was carried in two-parts in Sunday and yesterday’s Newsday, he said, "I don’t want to discuss if it is true. You all got something and printed it. I don’t have to discuss that with you." Naraynsingh then hung up. He was contacted on Sunday morning when the first part of the story was carried, but he told a reporter that he had not read the newspaper. Dr Chandra Naraynsingh was shot in 1994 by Shawn Parris. Prof Naraynsingh, his third wife Seeromani, and Elton Ramasir were charged in November 2004 with the murder. Prof Naraynsingh was freed by the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court while Seeromani and Ramasir were committed to stand trial. They were freed two weeks ago in the San Fernando High Court. The safety deposit box containing the tape was kept at Republic Bank.
