Lalla sworn in as judge


Lalla sworn in as judgeAttorney Larry Lalla was sworn in as a judge yesterday by President George Maxwell Richards at President’s House. Justice Lalla, 35, will be the youngest lawyer to be made a judge. Justice Mark Mohammed was 36 when he became a judge.


Lalla, who comes from the law firm Justitia Omnibus, of which Israel Khan SC is head of Chambers, practiced extensively in the criminal jurisdiction in cases involving Dole Chadee, Naresh Boodram, and Donaldson Mortley,


He was also involved in the Camille Bobart kidnapping case and the recent Naraynsingh murder trial.


Lalla will be admitted to the New York Bar later this year. He recently passed the State Bar examination in the top two percent of all persons in all 50 states writing the multi-state bar examination.


He received his law degree with honours from the University of the West Indies and his Legal Education Certificate from Sir Hugh Wooding Law School.


Lalla is a member of the Remand Court Committee looking into the possibility of a remand court at Golden Grove Prison and also a member of the Protective Services Compensation Committee. He was also an elected member of the council of the Law Association.


Lalla is married and a father of one. His wife is also an attorney.
