Ministry of Health employee murdered

POLICE yesterday launched a manhunt for two men in connection with the murder of a man in Claxton Bay.

Shirlon Boxhill, 44, a Ministry of Health employee of Ramdhanie Street, Claxton Bay, was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen of his home at 4.45 pm on Tuesday. His body bore five stab wounds in the chest and back.

Preliminary investigations into the murder led police to believe that Boxhill was murdered because of a relationship that went sour. Yesterday, police began to probe another theory — that the motive was robbery. A quantity of items including a stereo, video, DVD and head phones were missing from the house. Boxhill, an Insect Vector Control Officer who was last seen alive at 8 am on Tuesday, was unmarried and had no children. He lived in the house with two men.

Yesterday police revisited the crime scene and obtained statements from several neighbours. Neighbours told police that they heard screams coming from inside the house at 1.30 pm on Tuesday, but they did not pay much attention. The area residents told police they saw two men leaving the house with a quantity of electronic items. Police, who have been given a description of the men, have launched a search for two men.

One of the men who lived with him in the house, police said, found Boxhill’s body on the kitchen floor. Neighbours yesterday described Boxhill as a very friendly and quiet person who had been residing there for the past 15 years.
