Nelson Boys win in Sunday School cricket
MEMBER of Parliament Eric Williams was the patron for the start of the Sunday School Windball Cricket League at the St Paul’s Street, Port-of-Spain last week. And among the matches he witnessed was the defending champions Nelson Street Boys whip Rose Hill in an exciting encounter. Batting first Terrance Hinds lashed 37 runs and Jomon Williams made 21 as the winners tallied 124 for the loss of three wickets in their allotted overs. And then Nelson Street Boys outfit bowled out their counterparts for just 86. For Rose Hill, Dexter Alexander and his teammate Anthony Constantine each scored 20 runs apiece but it was in vain. In another boys match Bethlehem Boys also triumphed over St Crispin by seven runs to secure their first win of the season. On Friday Bethlehem Boys scored their second win in two days when they disposed of Lady of Laventille in another interesting encounter. Christian Topping top-scored for his team with 28 runs while Shevon Moses lashed 13 as Bethlehem Boys made 105. In response Lady of Laventille made 54 with Shaquille Paul top-scoring with 14 and Nicholas Boodoo getting 11. Among the girls, Eastern Girls easily got the better of Excel Girls, newcomers to the competition. Batting first Excel Girls made 27 for the loss of seven wickets, a score that Eastern Girls easily reached without losing any wickets in their run chase. Karvel Regis made 18 and Khadiva Haynes contributed 14. In action today Lady of Laventille Boys will come up against Eastern Boys at 9 am and Nelson Street will clash with Lady of Laventille an hour later. St Phillip’s Boys will play Sacred Heart at 1 pm and Nelson Street Boys face Excel Boys at 2 pm.
