Army, Police in n-ball shootout
FOR another season, the title in the Championship Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League is heading for a shootout between holders Defence Force and Police. The Army-Coast Guard women easily took care of Fire 53-34 at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday. Goal-shoot Tricia Liverpool had a good shooting game with 30 goals from 32 attempts and Lystra "Twinkletoes" Zamore got 23 of 28 as Defence Force led 13-10 at the end of the opening quarter. They increased their lead to nine goals— 27-18 at the half-time interval, while the score at the end of three quarters was 42-27. Merlica Livell netted 25 goals from 33 attempts for Fire, with Simone Morgan getting nine of 16. Police had to struggle to hold off winless CFC 47-42 in the other match, with Donna Elise Charles scoring 35 of 44 attempts, Euphemia Huggins getting 10 of 12 and Shivaughn Skeete shooting two of three. National skipper and goal-shoot Janelle Barker had an impressive 28 of 32 attempts and Kamilla Sobers had 14 of 19 for CFC. In the Retro Division knockout series on Sunday, Cilnetres advanced after beating Avengers 36-16, while TSTT got past Les Enfants 29-21.
