CHOP VICTIM IDENTIFIES ASSAILANTS AT ROADBLOCK
A 25-year-old San Juan man bleeding from chop wounds he sustained to his body early yesterday morning was able to point out his assailants at a police roadblock while on his way to hospital to be treated. The shocked three men who were pulled over during a regular police roadblock and exercise at San Juan, were arrested and taken to the San Juan police station where they were charged for wounding. Five other persons were arrested during the exercise in San Juan, Barataria and Morvant yesterday. The exercise coordinated by Insp Hilarie, included members of the Morvant CID, the North Eastern Division Task Force, the North Eastern Division CID along with Cpl La Pierre and PCs Mundoo, Acres, Mackoonsingh and Thomas. The eight persons who range in age from 18 to 34 will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate tomorrow. In an unrelated incident, Tunapuna police are probing the robbery of an Associated Brand Limited delivery man on Friday. According to reports, around 10 am Mukesh Boodram, a delivery man with Associated Brand had just pulled into the Ojar Wholesalers compound on Eastern Main Road, Tunapuna and was about to exit the vehicle when he was confronted by two armed men who ordered him to hand over his cash and then sped off. Boodram told police he was relieved of $72,000. In yet another unrelated matter police are investigating the circumstances under which officers of the Old Grange Police Station in Tobago in an exercise, were ambushed, beaten and attacked with guns in Bethel on Friday night.
