De Gannes, Lou Hing lead Carnation Golf


MARTINE DE GANNES and Kelsey Lou Hing are the joint leaders of the annual Carnation Trinidad and Tobago Women Open Golf Tournament.


At the end of the penultimate day of the three-day event, which is taking place at the St Andrew’s Golf Course, Moka, Maraval, the youthful duo each had scores of 159 in the Championship Flight category. During yesterday’s round on the Moka greens, the 2005 winner De Gannes shot a six-over-par 78 while overnight leader Lou Hing carded 80.


Another national youth team golfer Tracey Clarke is third with 166 after a score of 85 yesterday.


Action in the First, Second and Third Flight divisions began yesterday. In the First Flight, Violet Roopchand and Kitty Murphy shared the leaderboard with 80, while Christine Yhap was one shot adrift in third place.


Sue Benning, with 88, hold a one-shot lead over Suriname’s Petra Beems in the Second Flight, while Cynthia Legall follows with 91.
