Logie, Bishop XI win in British Gas U-15 cricket

LOGIE Division secured an easy win over Rajendra Dhanraj XI in the British Gas Under-15 Cricket Tournament at Syne Village, Penal, yesterday.

The victory was fashioned behind a masterful knock of 87 by Terrence Ramsaroop, as Logie Division amassed 229 for four wickets.

Sachin Boodram contributed an equally impressive 57 and team-mate Marlon Brisceno lashed 40 after they decided to bat first in the encounter.

Replying, the Rajendra Dhanraj outfit were skittled out for a meagre 109.

Meanwhile the Ian Bishop XI continued to dominate the 2006 edition of the youth cricket competition as they got the better of a Ranji Nanan side under humid conditions at Boundary Road, San Juan.

The Bishop XI inflicted a crushing defeat on their counterparts and will be favoured going into their next match tomorrow.

The Nanan team won the toss and batted, but against a very accurate Bishop attack led by off spinner Mikel Sookoo, were bundled out for a mere 77 runs.

Sookoo ended with the excellent figures of four for 14 and was well supported by Javed Boodram who claimed three for five, and Yannick Ottley took two for 18.

The Bishop team needed only 32.2 overs from the allotted 50 to overhaul the target.

Mark Panchoo hit an impressive unbeaten 31 and Nicholas Alexis 11 to lead their team to victory.

The win for the Bishop XI was their third straight victory of the tournament — which also makes them favourites for the title.
