Dad stabbed to death in El Socorro
A 29-year-old father of three was stabbed in the heart by a man armed with a knife just a short distance away from his Salamat Street home in El Socorro on Wednesday night. His murder is the 53rd for the year. Police reports revealed that painter Anthony Alfred was liming with friends at Touchdown Bar in El Socorro at about 11.20 pm, when he was called out by two men. Alfred walked to the men and an argument began. Alfred was then stabbed in the chest and the knife punctured his heart, killing him instantly. Homicide Bureau officers led by Sgt Stanley Ramdeen visited the scene and interviewed several persons. Investigators told Newsday that the killing may be an act of revenge. Officers are working on information that Alfred and two others were involved in an altercation with a man three days ago. The three reportedly beat the man who vowed revenge. An autopsy yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre, by Dr Eastlyn Mcdonald Borris, revealed that death was due to shock and haemorrhage consistent with a single puncture wound to the heart. At the victim’s El Socorro home, his mother Sharon Alfred told Newsday that her son was a gem of a person. She said he had no enemies and was not sure why someone would want to kill him. As tears streamed down her face, Sharon pointed out that her son was a giving person who assisted her financially. She said she heard the news of his death at 1 am yesterday and has been crying ever since. She is calling on the police to find the killers and bring them to justice.
