Kiwis call up seamer Mills

CHRISTCHURCH: Seamer Kyle Mills has been called up for the third One-Day International against the West Indies starting today at the Jade Stadium. The 26-year old, right-arm medium pacer, who has just recovered from a groin strain, will cover for speedster Michael Mason who is struggling with a side strain.

"Well, it’s a precautionary thing," Black Caps coach John Bracewell told the New Zealand Herald. "He’s (Mason) had the side strain during the domestic State programme, but he’s getting through it and it’s not getting any worse. He added: "We just thought we’d better have some cover for this match. We can release whoever it might be for the State match once we know what’s happening." Mills, who has already played four Tests and 58 ODIs, joins the Kiwis who lead the series 2-0 after comprehensive victories in Wellington and Queenstown over the last week.

SQUAD: Stephen Fleming (captain), Nathan Astle, Shane Bond, Peter Fulton, James Franklin, Jamie How, Brendon McCullum, Hamish Marshall, Michael Mason, Kyle Mills, Jeetan Patel, Scott Styris, Daniel Vettori, Lou Vincent.
