Windies ‘A’ beat England ‘A’ in thriller

Set 365 to win, the young West Indians reached 277 before losing their fourth wicket thanks to brilliant centuries by Marlon Samuels and skipper Sylvester Joseph.

Samuels came into his best lashing 118 while Man of the Match Joseph got 106.

Jamaican allrounder Samuels was in brilliant form hitting 15 fours and three sixes in his innings, while Joseph had one six and 12 fours in his century.

When this pair were separated, there was a middle-order collapse which saw four wickets tumble for 71 runs.

But a fighting unbeaten 42 by wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh jr, guided the West Indies "A" team to victory.

West Indies "A" slipped from 277 for four to 348 for eight, still needing another 18 runs to win. And when they lost Tino Best run out for two with the total on 351 letting in last man Jermaine Lawson it appeared the English lads would pull off a stunning comeback victory.

But Lawson stood his ground scoring six runs and helped Baugh jr to hit the required runs for a breathtaking win.
