Canadian trade mission to visit TT
Piggott said provincial ministers, senior government officials, business executives and professionals in energy and education have shown great interest in the developmental thrust of TT.
Piggott focussed on development and investment opportunities in energy and the environment in TT, and provided an overview of plans for education and port development.
The Trade and Industry Ministry, whose slogan is “TT is Energy,” gave a presentation.
At a reception arranged by the Nova Scotia Business Inc, and held under the auspices of the province’s Economic Development Minister, Kerry Morash, Piggott outlined the overall developmental opportunities in TT. Nova Scotia’s Minister of Energy was also present at the event.
Morash stressed that it was important for TT and Halifax to continue to support a close working relationship, since both were interested in advanced manufacturing, life sciences, education, and training. At the reception, Piggot made a direct call to potential investors “to join a country on the move; to join a winning team for development, success and profitability.”
And, in direct response to the call, the upcoming trade mission to TT was promoted by Nova Scotia Business Inc.
The upcoming visit follows a recent “successful” mission to TT by Nova Scotia’s Department of Energy.
During the trip, Piggott lauded the efforts of the Patrick Manning administration, whose “2020 Vision,” he said, has further driven the country’s energy, oil and gas sectors, methanol, urea and ammonia production, and urban and port development.
