Cops brace for more murders in Maraval

Lyndon Charles, 27, alias “Rabbit,” of Philip Trace was shot in the right leg while trying to hide in Triple M Supermarket on Saddle Road, Maraval. He was the brother of former gangleader Glenroy Charles, also known as “Malick.”

Police report that Charles drove into the carpark, and allowed his girlfriend to enter the grocery, when a car pulled alongside and a man began shooting at him causing him to run for cover.

Charles is the second person from the area to be shot in three days in what police are calling gang-related incidents.

On Monday, Devon Caesar, 20, was shot at Saddle Road, Maraval, not far from where Charles was shot. Both victims are still in hospital.

Sources confirmed Brent Marcus Joseph, 29, and Shawn Leacock, 23, who were killed last week in separate instances at Faustin Trace, Maraval, were on a hit list of people associated with Glenroy Charles.

Glenroy, who headed several gangs and drugs blocks between Maraval and Petit Valley, was gunned down last August, in Petit Valley, after the signing of a peace-agreement.
The treaty was broken with his murder and gangs declared open war.

Police believe the shooting of Charles and Caesar were just failed attempts at execution.
They said they were pursuing the gangs and believed a war between the Boissiere Village and Maraval gangs had begun which may lead to more shootings.
