UNC: Gastro in TT? — A crying shame
In a release the party stated that the outbreak and fatalities were a crushing indictment on the Government at two levels. It said the health crisis resulted from unsanitary conditions in the public environment, caused by the historic neglect of the Government. It added that the poor treatment of patients and in particular the fatalities were a condemnation of the respective services of the public health system.
The UNC stated that it held the Government directly responsible for the crisis, including the death of baby, Jade Crystal Sidoo. “The party is horrified that such a health disaster could take place in our modern society, with a multi-billion dollar budget and one which is supposedly on the road to developed nation status.
“The unacceptable state of the environment and the inadequate public health service again reflect the woefully wrong sense of priorities by the Government, which is wasting millions of dollars for a ministerial retreat and tossing large sums on a building construction spree,” he said.
