Karen Bhoorasingh heads GHL subsidiary

Bhoorasingh, who prior to this was General Manager with responsibility for Operations, assumed the position of WIA’s General Manager from March 1.

“She is a professional with thirteen years of senior management experience and twenty years of general insurance experience covering the areas of Claims, Risk Management, Marketing, Underwriting, Planning and Administration and we are pleased that she will be leading WIA in this increasingly competitive insurance environment,’ said Rory O’Brien, Group CEO-designate of Guardian Holdings Limited of which WIA is a member company.

Bhoorasingh has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of London, an ACII designated Chartered Insurer from the Chartered Insurance Institute of College in Kent, England and a BSc (Hons) in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica.

She joins Lisa Gomes, President of Guardian Asset Management, Jamaica, as the second woman in the GHL to head a major subsidiary.
