Classics and memories
The audience was treated to some vintage calypsos from King Austin, Brigo and Bomber. Austin kicked off the show with his 1982 song “The World Today” and he instantly brought back memories. When he directed the band to change to “Guardians” (1981) the entire audience was singing.
Austin tried out a new song “The Man Who Invented Money” but only sang two verses before going into his 1980 classic “Progress”— a song that seem relevant even today. His delivery of this song brought back memories of the Dimanche Gras night when he performed it at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
Brigo was outstanding with his rendition of “Mama Popo” and “Limbo Break,” soliciting both laughter and applause from his audience.
Bomber in his own style showed what a true calypsonian is as he delivered several of his classics.
