Battle looms in Waterloo over cell tower

The residents were told that under the Telecommunications Act of Trinidad and Tobago, a telephone company should send out a public notice of plans to build cell towers. They said this was not the case on Williams Street.

Ramkisoon told the residents there were plans to form an organisation to inform and educate the people of the dangers of cell towers. He said he planned to have talks with officials of telephone companies and to assist them in refining the Telecommunications Act.

Roxanne Mohammed and Peter Permell residents of La Florissante in D’Abadie, where there have also been protests over the construction of a cell tower, attended the meeting.

Representatives from the Tunapuna Regional Corporation and the Arouca North MP Jarrette Narine were invited to the meeting but did not attend.
