John Legend added to Trinbago Jazz

Legend will join an already star-studded cast that will be in Trinidad for three nights of concerts featuring the sounds of Grammy winning jazz, soul, soca, world and latin musicians of the highest calibre, including Earth, Wind & Fire; jazz pianist Joe Sample, Bishop Noel Jones, Carl and Carol Jacobs, Chaka Khan, Chuck Brown and Mavis John on Sunday April 30.

Featuring on Saturday April 29 are Kenny G, Seal, David and Michael Boothman, Kool & The Gang and the group Mint Condition, while Mungal Patasar, Slapbak and Superblue are billed to appear on the opening night of the festival on Friday April 28.

The organisers view this Gourmet Jazz Festival as the future of jazz festivals because of its incomparable location in Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain; an enviable locale to which both performers and spectators are certain to flock for the magic and breathtaking beauty of Trinidad and Tobago. With that in mind, Boyenne told Newsday that on hearing of the festival, US media giant NBC contacted him about coming to Trinidad to cover the event. Since then Boyenne said his organisation has been flooded with a number of similar requests from the likes of ABC, BET and more. At the inaugural festival held in Tobago last year Boyenne accused financial mogul Clico of hijacking the event and taking it over, hence the reason for the change of name and logo for the Plymouth Jazz Festival which comes off in Tobago one week earlier, hosted by CL Communications. The Tobago cast of international artistes comprise Toni Braxton, Patti La Belle, Natalie Cole, Diddy, Johnny Gill, Najee and Sting.

The prices for the Trinbago festival are in USD and as follows:

General Admission: Friday $75, Saturday and Sunday $100; VIP - $150 on Friday and $200. for Saturday and Sunday. There is also a three-day pass for $240.
