1 killed, 4 others shot

Emmanuel Holder, was last seen liming at the bar, There to Here, on Observatory Street, at about 8.30 pm, when he was confronted by a gunman who shot him several times.

The gunman then fled the scene on foot.

Officers of the Besson Street Police Station visited the scene along with a District Medical Officer and the body was ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre.

Police investigators told Newsday that Holder was a suspect in several gang- related shootings.

They added that he was recently threatened by members of a rival gang.

Holder is the 106th person to be murdered for the year.

Compared with the same period last year, 80 persons were murdered.

Almost 15 minutes later, three persons were shot several times while liming at Anisette Street, Laventille.

Police reports revealed that at about 8.45 pm, De Gale Cherie, 31, Kevon Smith, 22, and Peter Holder, 29, were having a conversation when they heard several loud explosions and then felt burning sensations in their bodies.

They then realised that they were shot.

The three were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they were treated and warded.

At about 1.30 am yesterday, Kerwin Haynes, 21, was walking along a track at Clifton Hill, Laventille, when he was confronted by a lone gunman who shot him six times about the head and body.

He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital and warded in critical condition.

Police described all the shootings as gang-related.
