Business chamber mourns for Sean
In a statement yesterday, the chamber’s president Ian Welch said members joined with the nation in praying for peace in the country.
Like every citizen, members were horrified at the manner in which six-year-old Sean met his untimely death.
The murder of children is an abhorrent crime, which has been on the increase in TT over the last few years, said Welch, adding this development cannot be viewed in a vacuum.
“If we are to truly experience a reduction in crime, what is needed is a holistic approach to make TT once more a safe place to live and rear our children. We need to build a country where children are not homeless and each child has access to education, housing, food, water, health care, family support and values. Our communities and parents must become more accountable for this loss of life,” said Welch.
Welch is calling on the nation to work together with the authorities to reduce crime and to report crimes to Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
