Arima is suffering
(1) The Court house; (2) The Post Office; (3) The Wardens Office; (4) The Savannah; (5) The Water Tank at Lawrence Park; (6) The Mt Pleasant Bridge; (7) Arima is having water problems; (8) Our beautiful rivers have been destroyed because of quarrying; (9) The infiltration of Government aliens, under the guise of housing; (10) An abnormal increase in water rates because of the WASA Act; (11) No modern Library services; (12) A public car park which is completely usurped by the Arima Borough Council; (13) Demolishing of a 35-bed hospital which was replaced by a health facility.
It is amazing that our representative Minister Beckles is doing everything, except helping Arima. During her last election campaign, she made mention that the plans for the new Administrative Building were all completed. This was four years ago. Checks reveal that millions of dollars are being paid in rent to house the above mentioned services.
The Arima Borough Council is presently embarking on a project on the northern side of the savannah, and hardly any Arimian can positively say what is really being done. This is the kind of contempt that has filtered down from the Central Government. A major problem facing TT is traffic congestion which can be solved by the word ‘‘decentralisation.’’ Instead of investing in useless visible infrastructure, build the Administrative complex, and prevent 40 percent of the people of Arima from going to PoS to transact Government business. This is so simple. Proceed to do the same in all the other built up areas. Eliminate first and second choices at SEA and zone the school population. Stagger the opening hours for business enterprises.
The term 20/20 vision is used by doctors when one has perfect sight. Does this mean that we will be suffering from myopic vision until 2020? Money was not invented to be spent, but to be used for the things we need and not the things that we want.
