Keith Noel referendum timely

At the present time in our nation there are major proposed projects, which have raised serious concerns across the entire spectrum of the society, and it would appear that no one is paying heed to what the people are saying.

In 1962 very few would have had the desired inputs for the framework of a Constitution. Today it has become the concern of most citizens to participate in the destiny of the nation and as such the framing of the Constitution is a matter for the people not for individuals who may be here today and gone whenever.

One such example is the proposed change from Parliamentary rule to an Executive President, which should probably have the approval of a 66 percent majority, and the only means of attaining this consensus is by a referendum. The citizens of this nation must not only demand our rights as individuals but more importantly the elected representatives must understand that they are servants of the people and must do what the people want and not assume the role of father knows best.
