Young Christians celebrate Liberation Day

“This is a spiritual warfare and God is the answer,” declared Frank Porter, national director of Youth for Christ, when he addressed the gathering at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port-of-Spain.

The event, which had as its theme, “Jesus is Lord in Trinidad and Tobago,” started at 10 am with a march from the Queen’s Park Savannah to the Jean Pierre Complex.

At the rally, young Christians from throughout the country sang and gave thanks, offering positive messages. Several gospel artistes performed, including former National Calypso Monarch DeLamo (Franz Lambkin) who told the young people, “In this time, we need to deeply reflect. Keep digging until you find your wealth.”

Public Utilities Minister Pennelope Beckles congratulated the young people for their demonstrations of unity and love and saluted Youth for Christ on their choice theme.

She said at this time it was important to send positive messages to young people. “Do not limit your dreams. Today you have proven to be leaders,” Beckles told the gathering.
