“The pain of knowing that the protective service callously dismissed a mother’s concerns is worrying for the public at large,” the committee added.

“There are too many instances of crime scenes becoming compromised due to a lack of effective policing. When are the police going to receive the proper training to effectively communicate with the public?”

The committee said while the Police Reform Bills have been passed in Parliament, and there cannot be any immediate solution to crime, common courtesy and empathy do not require Parliamentary approval.

“How many more Akiel Chambers, Dane Andrews and Sean Lukes must there be before DNA legislation is introduced?” the committee asked.
