Elite TT athletes get $.25M each

The recipients were Olympic bronze medal swimmer George Bovell III, Cleopatra Borel-Brown and Marc Burns, who recently won bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, Sports Woman of the Year Candice Scott and Darrel Brown.

In handing out the cheques yesterday, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Roger Boynes said his ministry is committed to helping athletes once they fit the bill.

And Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee secretary Brian Lewis told the athletes they are role models and if the process of funding which they received is to continue, how they deal with it will have an effect.
