Rush for $100 bmobile phones

According to a media release, the official ceremony will be held at Club Zen today.

“The largest, most reliable network in the Caribbean has arrived in T&T,” stated the release.

“Digicel will transport you into the world of cutting edge telecommunications.”

The launch comes days after the installation of interconnection equipment was completed.

Meanwhile, on the heels of Digicel’s launch, TSTT launched a new service offering customers reduced prices on local calls.

Effective from last Monday, local calls from mobile to mobile, mobile to fixed line and fixed line to mobile phones were reduced to 50 cents per minute after the first three minutes.

In addition, over the past two days, bmobile put out a number of full page advertisements offering cell phones at extraordinarily low prices. Nokia 1600 prepaid mobile phones were being offered for just $199 while Nokia 1110 were being sold for just $99. TSTT customers, not wanting to miss out on the once-in-a-lifetime deals, made a mad rush at every bmobile outlet in Port-of-Spain yesterday.

“Money is low but I would not pass up on this opportunity,” said one person.
