Corruption gaining momentum
The crime of corruption with the drug trade seems to fuel the rate of murders we experience on a daily basis. Despite the fact that crime is a worldwide phenomenon, but for a small country like Trinidad and Tobago to suddenly dip to the level of what it has become in the field of crime being committed, is mind boggling.
To deal with the situation the Government has solicited the assistance of British officers and FBI personnel from the US in order to curb the spiralling crime rate. We can only hope that the results would be forthcoming, aided by recent legislation.
Discipline seems to be alien in this country in the workplace, offices, the careless manner in which vehicles are driven on our roadways and in our general way of living. One wonders as to whether this country is fit for independence as everything seems to be out of control.
The sudden glut of money because of the oil and gas boom seems to make the general population uneasy with everyone wanting to be a millionaire overnight and this is encouraging corruption and the rate of murder we now experience.
If this situation should continue, then we have no choice but to invite Great Britain to recolonise this country in order to be saved from ourselves.
