TSTT owns up to Waterloo tower

But this has been put on hold pending a meeting to discuss the location of cell towers scheduled for next week with the corporation, TSTT, Laqtel, Digicel, Town and Country Planning, the Association for Radio Frequency Emission Control (ARFECTT), and the Telecommunications Authority.

Residents of Valsayn and Waterloo Road held a placard protest against the cell site outside the corporation’s Tunapuna offices on Tuesday morning. ARFECTT and the residents met that morning with the corporation’s chairman Patricia Mejias and councillors to discuss their concerns. The identity of the tower’s owner was not previously known until TSTT notified the corporation.

“TSTT has claimed responsibility for the tower, and our meeting with representatives was cancelled today,” Mejias said yesterday.

However, Mejias said TSTT was given a show cause notice because it did not receive permission to build on the Waterloo property.

“The show cause notice was sent out to see why did they not seek approval, and they have to show an application and who gave them permission, and TSTT has to apply to build...the structure, even though it is private property,” she said.
