Garcia takes 14 in South Zone

Garcia started his demolition job in the first innings claiming six for 61 to bowl out East Indians for 136. The only batsman lending resistance was Naresh Narine with 46.

Young Lions then replied with 183 thanks to 43 from Ashraph Ali who scored a century in the previous round.

Facing a deficit of 47 runs on first innings, East Indians were humbled a second time around for 154. Garcia grabbed eight for 74 to finish the match with figures of 47-8-125-14.

Young Lions then knocked off the winning target for the loss of two wickets, reaching 110 for two with Ali, 40 not out, and Dave Neckchaddee, 54 not out.

Meanwhile, Young Lions have also qualified for the quarter-finals of the Ramsingh’s limited overs series and will meet Hillpiece at Hermitage at April 29.

Young Lions finished second in Group “C” of the prelimins with 16 points, four behind group winners Clarke Rochard who had 20.

Clarke Rochard will play Rousillac in the “quarters,” while Progessive Cedros meet Woodland and OJs come up against HYO at Granville.
