Rev Paul was correct

I would like to draw to Mr Maharaj’s attention to a poll done by one of the TV stations on the Tuesday night news.

Sankersingh’s remarks were shown twice on the news and the public was asked “Do you agree with the way in which the IRO is dealing with crime in the country?” Seventy-six percent of the response said ‘No’. In other words Mr Maharaj, 76 percent or four out of every five persons agreed with Sankersingh. Also, I would like to commend Rev Cyril Paul for the way he responded to this issue.

His was gentle but firm and invited discussion. As a religious leader myself, I am aware that religion must involve itself with all social issues that would improve the livelihood of the individual and the community and the nation as a whole. In this regard therefore I agree with the sentiments expressed by Sankersingh. The IRO must deal with crime and other social problems.
