Used car dealer's son kidnapped
Joey Alexander, a director of well-known foreign used car dealership Nakayama Imports, which is owned by his father, left his St Joseph home on Wednesday night to drop off the mother of his young daughter Jeniah.
On reaching the woman’s partially constructed house at David Trace in St Helena, a van pulled up and a group of men grabbed and bundled Alexander into the vehicle before speeding off.
Shortly after, Alexander’s worried relatives received a telephone call from a man who demanded an undisclosed sum of money as ransom for the safe release of Alexander.
Officers of the Anti Kidnapping Squad (AKS) were contacted and they carried out a search for the kidnapped man. Several people were interviewed and a description of the abductors was made available to investigators.
Yesterday, the victim’s brother Jerry Alexander, who is also a director in the family business, pleaded with the kidnappers to treat his brother well and not to harm him.
Sources within the AKS said investigators are following up on a specific lead and they believe arrests will be made soon. Alexander is the second person to be kidnapped this year.
